Wonderful, colorful, historic and quite rare, this sale is for one of the seven (7) original watercolors done by well known American illustrator Franklin Booth, for the Mark Twain novel, Prince and the Pauper, written in 1881, first published in USA in 1882, and later reprinted by Harper & Brothers around 1917, with that edition featuring 7 color plates created by Franklin Booth. Spoiler alert, No, I dont have any of the other 6.
This is NOT a plate from the book, or a print of the book plate, but is the original watercolor itself. The work is framed, but I have personally inspected it unframed, and can guarantee that the item is mint, no damage or repairs or conservation or in-painting, etc. Of the various plates in the novel, this is probably one of the top 2 or 3. This is golden age illustration art perfection, and in its finest form.
The work measures approximately 7-5/8 x 10-1/2. Frame measures approximately 16-1/8 x 19-5/8.
Not much else to say about this, no issues, no apologies, great art, great artist, famous author and novel, immaculate condition, and good investment that you can enjoy looking at every day. Cant do that with a gold bar or cd in the bank! The item "Original Franklin Booth withc illustration From Mark Twains Prince & The Pauper" is in sale since Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
