ORIGINAL 1922 THEATER MAGAZINE'WOMAN REACHING FOR THE STARS' COVER PAUL FURSTENBERG PASTEL ILLUSTRATION. This is a great piece. I recently acquired 2 original illustrations by listed artist Paul Furstenburg. I bought them because I thought they were incredible work without knowing much about the artist or the subject matter.
Paul Furstenburg was an artist who created illustrations for the covers of Theater Magazine and others like the Ladies Home Journal. After doing a ton of research I was able to figure out that this illustration was the original work created and used for the June 1922 cover of Theater Magazine. I actually have included a picture of the cover with the picture of the original. A stunning Art Deco pastel of a woman sitting on the moon reaching for the stars. Pastel on paper measuring 21 1/4 x 15 1/2 inches.
The paper is attached at the top verso to the original backing with the original matte resting over it. Signed lower right by the artist.
All in all in very good condition. Some obvious dusting of the pastel and a few minor spots but nothing too bad. A small spot at the top and also one at the bottom. Otherwise a really beautiful original cover illustration.I have debated keeping this piece and having it reframed as with the proper matte and frame it really would be an incredible addition to any collection. CHECK THE PICTURES ON THIS GREAT PIECE. If you have any questions regarding the work, please dont hesitate to ask. Pictures are an excellent indication of condition. I guarantee and stand 100% behind everything I sell. No reason to open up any sort of cases. Just simply contact me and I will handle any and all problems.
