Captioned in the magazine the huge brown cloud was rapidly swelling out of the north. For the three horseman, riding into it was like heading into the mouth of a gigantic howling cave. The sheep wanted to huddle in helpless confusion. Grohe lived and worked in Illinois and later in Westport CT. He studied at Chicago Academy/School of Fine Arts and School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Grohe was a very successful illustrator whose work appeared in magazines including Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, Ladies Home Journal, Country gentleman, Field & Stream, Esquire and Farm Journal as well as books and advertisements. He is also known for his World War II posters. Grohe was a member of Society of Illustrators where he participated in exhibitions.Titled and dated on back Duster September 1955.
