Estate Original Art Edwin Georgi Magazine Illustration Redbook, April 1958
Have added 2 new higher res photos! Estate original Edwin Georgi hand drawn & painted illustration, which appeared in Redbook Magazine April 1958 issue to illustrate the cover story JanieWho, Jilted, Found Love on the Wings of laughter, by William Heuman, a well known writer of the day. The story begins on page 34, and the image being offered, a large nearly 16 x 33 piece, which was completed in December of 1957, is of Janie and her post-jilt boyfriend on a rooftop in Brooklyn overlooking lower Manhattan, a view that later, in the early 1960s, would become known and popularized by the line Patty only see the sights a girl can see from Brooklyn Heights, from the 1963 ABC Television show The Patty Duke Show.

Janie, tired of the jilted lifestyle throws all caution to the windliterally, on the breezy roof topand fixes her gaze on Mr. Handsome New Guy, and in the pages of Redbook her story unfolds. The painting being offered shows additional process and is annotated on the back color redone, July 1962. S you can see in the photos, he repainted the piece, why, we will never know.

Even so, this is a great example of his style at full flower! Process, annotated, and working drawings are most desirable to collectors, and this one, with some peeling areas (see images) is a work that was used, then updated.

This image is suitable for framing as is in my opinion. The size of the image is 15 7/8" tall by 33" wide, the board with mat measures 23 1/2" tall by 40" wide. Here he describes the well known Norwalk, Connecticut artist.

This spectacular new book explores the life and work of Edwin Georgi, the master of eye-popping kaleidoscopic color, and a skillful renderer of beautiful women. Loaded with stunning illustrations reproduced from vintage magazines, family photos, and original paintings and drawings drawn from the Georgi family's archives, this is a stunning document of the artist's work, and is a must for anyone who loves impressionistic color combined with masterful draftsmanship. Condition: Ready to frame; if you like the original emerging from the repaint of 1962, but can also be restored to the original by a conservator if you so desire. The re paint is lifting of, all be it a bit slowly, has taken 57 years to get to this point, but that adds to the appeal in my opinion; stored away for decades in proper storage, and comes to you in as-found original condition.
