ELIZABETH TAYLOR Original 1950s Glamour Illustration Pinup Painting Nick Hufford
Nicodemus (Nick) David Hufford III (1915 - 1986). Original Oil on Canvas Painting. Size: 15 x 17 inches. Frame: 18 1/2 x 20 1/2 inches. This is a fantastic 1950-51 glamour portrait of a young and beautiful Elizabeth Taylor by noted artist/ illustrator Nick Hufford. Its assuredly an ad or cover illustration for one of the many magazines she appeared in, but I havent been able to locate the exact magazine this one was created for. There are several reference markings on the stretcher bars and canvas that are original to the work. What I do know is this is a wonderful image of Liz during the golden age of film. She was called, The Most Beautiful Woman in the World. Theres a reason for it. Nick Hufford, (19151986) was born in Columbus, Ohio. In the 1930s he studied his chosen profession at the Chicago Art Institute, the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, the Chicago Professional School, and the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and in the early 1940s he served an apprenticeship under two top illustrators, Haddon Sundblom and Harry Anderson, and became part of The Sundblom Circle of illustrators who worked together in Chicago. During his career he painted portraits of a number of leading American families, including the Rockefellers, du Ponts, and Dukes. As well as portraits of General C. While working at The Illustrators Group he did advertising illustrations for such clients as Coca Cola, Ford, and Esso.

As well as Calender, Pin-up, Magazine, and Cover illustrations. It has everything going for it. Original 1950s paintings of Elizabeth Taylor are nearly impossible to come by, but even on its own merits its just a fantastic looking work. Id love to see this painting go to someone can really appreciate it. Painting is in Good Original Condition.

It doesnt appear to have ever been cleaned. There are some light scuffs at the bottom but overall no major issues. A light cleaning would brighten it up a bit and a re-stretching to tighten the canvas would be beneficial, but again, as you can see from the images there are no major issues that need immediate attention.

You can hang it up as is and itll look just great! (Reference the photos for a better idea of Condition). The frame is in excellent condition. Its an ebony poplar frame with antiqued gold gilt edges. It compliments the red beautifully. It will be insured and packaged properly.
