Brian Froud, born in 1947, is based in London and has been involved with everything from book jacket covers, advertising, films, children's books and magazine covers.

Froud was the conceptual designer and costume designer for the films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. Both in conjunction with Jim Henson's Creature Shop. He collaborated with Terry Jones. The Goblins of the Labyrinth.

A stunning original watercolor and ink piece by Brian Froud from one of his earliest illustrated children's books, "The Railway Engine and The Hairy Brigands" published in 1973.

The story of two young girls who inherit a decrepit steam engine and use it to save the town from the "hairy brigands" of the hills. The large published artwork is rendered on artist board. The piece comes with an tissue overlay showing the placement of the text and other production notes. An absolutely fun, stunning piece with vibrant colors showing the Railway engine with teeth bared, terrifying The Hairy Brigands.

A beautiful stunning piece in a spectacular array of colors. The engine was rendered as an applique and appears to pop out of the art. Signed by Brian Froud lower center. The art is in excellent condition and is tacked onto a presentation board with a temporary mat.
